uni standard table

The University of Bern commissioned a stable yet light desk for the classrooms in a new building. It was the spark that inspired the Uni Standard Table – the first piece designed and produced by atelier ALINEA and the start of an entire Uni Collection.

The main feature of the table is a trapezoidal sheet of aluminium mounted between two four-millimetre-thin panels of wood veneer or synthetic resin. This undulated aluminium sheet provides stability and lightness, while the steel beams on the underside allow a table length of up to four metres without an additional central leg.

The base is made of steel and can be positioned at a height of 73 or 75 centimetres. The table top is available in various types of wood or synthetic resin, or with a linoleum cover.

The Uni Standard Table has nothing to hide, its structure is open for all to see. This is what we call good design.
